Dumont and Fort Lee are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Huskies will head out to square off against the Bridgemen at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Dumont has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Dumont is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Ramsey, falling 15-1.
Dumont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Funez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Fort Lee came out on top against Fair Lawn on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Bridgemen were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cutters. The Bridgemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.
Ethan Rybalsky spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Luke Senatore was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Chris Kim was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Fort Lee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Fort Lee is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dumont, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dumont has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fort Lee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dumont couldn't quite get it done against Fort Lee when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
