In what's become a running theme this season, the McCool Junction Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They claimed a resounding 65-24 win over East Butler on the road. Given McCool Junction's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while East Butler is ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McCool Junction's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mapieu Kouchinin, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trenton Orlando, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
McCool Junction's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for East Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
McCool Junction will square off against Cross County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cross County will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for East Butler, they will be playing at home against Meridian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meridian is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
