The Elkhorn South Storm were the 73-72 winner over the Pius X Thunderbolts when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Elkhorn South was the victim of a tough 74-54 loss at the hands of Pius X on Saturday. Elkhorn South has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aidan Skradis and Owen Musil certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Skradis scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds, while Musil scored 16 points. Skradis scored a full 40.7% of Elkhorn South's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Pius X had a senior duo take command as Kellan Humm scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Treyson Anderson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Anderson has scored at least 25% of Pius X's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Brass, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Elkhorn South's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pius X, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Elkhorn South is on the road again on Friday and play against Papillion-LaVista at 7:15 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Papillion-LaVista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday. As for Pius X, they will be playing at home against Bellevue West at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
