Sebastopol is 1-9 against Leake County since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The pair will face off at 2:30 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sebastopol is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Sebastopol came up short against Newton County and fell 48-39. While losing is never fun, Sebastopol can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Newton County is ranked 115th).
Meanwhile, Leake County's 22-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Leake Central by a score of 67-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Leake County saw an underclassman step up: Treylon Ricks scored 18 points. The matchup was Ricks' tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tay Fortune, who scored 13 points.
Sebastopol's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-8. As for Leake County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Sebastopol couldn't quite finish off Leake County when the teams last played back in February and fell 62-60. Can Sebastopol avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
