Silsbee is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Hamshire-Fannett is on a eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Silsbee Tigers will take on the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Silsbee got themselves on the board against Liberty, but Liberty never followed suit. They blew past the Panthers, posting a 49-0 win on the road. Given Silsbee's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Liberty is ranked 779th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Silsbee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trei Kibbles led the charge by rushing for 148 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Dre'lon Miller, who gained 121 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Hamshire-Fannett humbled Hardin-Jefferson with a 49-12 victory. Hamshire-Fannett's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Ty Bryson had a dynamite game for Hamshire-Fannett, throwing for 337 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Augustine, who gained 68 total yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Silsbee to 7-0 and Hamshire-Fannett to 8-0.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Silsbee commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Hamshire-Fannett struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Silsbee beat Hamshire-Fannett 35-28 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Hamshire-Fannett's Tyler Spencer, who rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Silsbee to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
