The Camden County Wildcats fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Raines Vikings on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 62-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (57), Camden County still had to take the loss.
Camden County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Antwann Brown, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and Kaleb Murray who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Marley Riddle, who scored seven points.
Raines got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ja'zon Taylor out in front who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ta'veon Dunbar, who scored 17 points.
Camden County's defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-3. As for Raines, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Camden County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Andrew Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Andrew Jackson is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games. As for Raines, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against ED White at 7:00 p.m. ED White will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 549th, while Raines is ranked 73rd).
