The Proviso West Panthers pushed their score all the way to 61 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Proviso East. Proviso West was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Proviso East apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Proviso East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joaquin Dixon, who scored 23 points. Dixon hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Pickens, who scored 20 points.
Proviso West has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Proviso East, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Proviso West won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oak Park-River Forest at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Oak Park-River Forest is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Proviso East, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Berwyn/Cicero Morton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
