It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Silverdale Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Providence Academy as they made off with a 72-48 victory. The Seahawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Kinsley Owen was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Silverdale Academy's points. Abigail Littrell was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
Silverdale Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They are 15-6 when they've passed the ball that well.
Despite the loss, Providence Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kennedy Phillips shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phillips has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Myla Johnson, who posted five points and six boards.
Silverdale Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. Providence Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-13.
Silverdale Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-50 win against Christian Academy of Knoxville on the 21st. Providence Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
