The Winnebago Indians's game on Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Omaha Nation 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Winnebago to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tressa BigBear, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which BigBear has scored at least 25% of Winnebago's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jolon Blackbird, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals.
Winnebago's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Omaha Nation, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Winnebago will be home for the holidays to greet South Sioux City at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. Omaha Nation won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Archbishop Bergan at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Archbishop Bergan is ranked 49th, while Omaha Nation is ranked 44th).
