You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Floresville Tigers's strategy against the Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) on Friday. Floresville enjoyed a cozy 49-35 win over Uvalde. Given Floresville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Uvalde is ranked 1155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Floresville found their leader in underclassman Samuel Rodriguez, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryland Parker, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Floresville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Uvalde, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-17.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Carrizo Springs the next time they take the court. Floresville will host Carrizo Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Uvalde will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
