Wabash and Manchester are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Wabash Apaches will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Manchester Squires at 7:45 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Wabash was able to grind out a solid victory over Eastbrook, taking the game 46-33. Given the Apaches' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Panthers are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wabash got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brookelyn Buzzard out in front who went 5 for 11 on her way to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kaitlynn Honeycutt, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and four steals.
Meanwhile, Manchester hadn't done well against Mississinewa recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Manchester secured a 46-42 W over Mississinewa. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Squires.
Manchester's win came from a few key players Wabash will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hanna Stout, who scored six points and three steals. Peyton Ream was another key player, going 6 of 11 en route to 16 points.
Manchester was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mississinewa only posted five assists.
Manchester's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Wabash, they are also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Wabash didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Manchester in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 61-55 win. Does Wabash have another victory up their sleeve, or will Manchester turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
