The Raleigh Lions will venture away from home to take on the Mize Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Raleigh needed a bit of extra time to put away Forest. They came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 19-15.
Deuce Carter and Brendan Harper made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Carter pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Harper pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Carter a new career-low in walks (one). At bat, Carter went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Harper scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Harper a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Zack Harris was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mize). Everything went their way against Scott Central on Tuesday as Mize made off with a 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won four in a row.
Like Raleigh, Mize also got a great game from a two-way player: Graham Davis. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Walker Sullivan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Parker Himmel also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Mize always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mize's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs over those games. As for Raleigh, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Raleigh has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mize struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Raleigh came up short against Mize in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 5-1. Can Raleigh avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
