There's no place like home for the Largo Packers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They secured a 73-67 W over Mitchell on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Largo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nicholas Garrison, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Garrison has scored at least 25% of Largo's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Ellis, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Despite the loss, Mitchell still got an impressive performance from Ben Unger, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Unger's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Emanuel Beacham, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Mitchell were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Largo only pulled down six.
The victory got Largo back to even at 2-2. As for Mitchell, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Largo will take on Land O' Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mitchell, they will head out on the road to face off against Berkeley Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Berkeley Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mitchell in Florida (Berkeley Prep is ranked 56th, while Mitchell is ranked 640th).
