Northwest Cabarrus has gone a perfect 10-0 against Concord recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans will welcome the Concord Spiders at 5:30 p.m. Northwest Cabarrus will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Northwest Cabarrus barely beat Robinson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Northwest Cabarrus never let Robinson get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trojans yet this season.
Alianna Gettles tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Haylee Ellis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Isabella Ellis was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Concord had just enough and edged out South Stanly 6-4 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spiders.
Alexa Hooks made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Emilia Bradley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Biggers, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Concord's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 8.67 hits in those games compared to only 4.5 in the others. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Concord's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northwest Cabarrus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. It's a different story for Concord, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Northwest Cabarrus' hitters?
Everything went Northwest Cabarrus' way against Concord in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Northwest Cabarrus made off with a 16-1 victory. Does Northwest Cabarrus have another victory up their sleeve, or will Concord turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
