In what's become a running theme this season, the Freedom Eagles gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 56-28 victory over Gar-Field. The score was close at the half, but Freedom pulled away in the second half with 38 points.
Freedom got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenneah DeGuzman out in front who scored 22 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points DeGuzman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keilani Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine assists and nine steals.
Gar-Field lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Olivia Hamlin, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Hamlin has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Icys Carroll, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Freedom has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Gar-Field, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-13.
Freedom does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gar-Field, they will be playing at home against Potomac Senior at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Potomac Senior presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gar-Field in Virginia (Potomac Senior is ranked 146th, while Gar-Field is ranked 306th).
