River City has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Monterey Trail Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. River City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
River City posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 victory over McClatchy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Tomas Montoya and Diego Villanueva were among the main playmakers for River City as the former scored 13 points and the latter scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Tran, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Monterey Trail unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They suffered a rough 86-66 defeat at the hands of Branson. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Monterey Trail has suffered yet this season.
River City's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-12. As for Monterey Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-2.
River City was taken down by Monterey Trail 83-37 in their previous meeting on January 3rd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Monterey Trail's Brandon Gibson Jr, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
