Makayla Brown made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was even better at the plate, firing off four runs, three doubles, and one triple while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, Ashlyn Klahold was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Emma Welsh was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Wilkes-Barre unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against North Pocono on Thursday, falling 12-4.
