Apollo is 6-1 against Hancock County since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will host the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. Apollo's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Hancock County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Apollo barely beat Muhlenberg County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Friday. Considering the Eagles have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gunnar Hendricks and Ty Lillpop did most of the damage at the plate: Hendricks went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double, while Lillpop went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Lillpop a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Pate, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Apollo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hancock County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 5-1 to Breckinridge County.
Hancock County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Mucker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Apollo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hancock County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
Hancock County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Apollo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. It's a different story for Hancock County, though, as they've only averaged .204. Will they be able to contain Apollo's hitters?
Apollo was able to grind out a solid win over Hancock County when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 6-1. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
