This season hasn't been kind to the Francis W. Parker Colonels, who are still winless after their eighth match. They took a 48-29 bruising from Mather on Friday. Francis W. Parker lost against Mather in their previous head to head back in November, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-25 score last time.
Francis W. Parker lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Spencer Dunbar, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Quinn Kass, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Mather found their leader in underclassman Temi Yesufu, who scored 25 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Yesufu has scored at least 25% of Mather's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anita Shokoya, who scored nine points.
Francis W. Parker's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Mather, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Francis W. Parker will be playing in front of their home fans against Morgan Park Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Morgan Park Academy's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so Francis W. Parker's offense will have their work cut out for Francis W. Parker. As for Mather, they will head out on the road to face off against Prosser at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Prosser: 22.6, Mather: 27.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
