Satanta is 0-10 against Hodgeman County since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Satanta Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Hodgeman County Longhorns at 8:00 p.m. Satanta will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Hodgeman County is ranked 139th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-40, which was the final score in Satanta's tilt against South Central on Friday.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Hodgeman County over Pawnee Heights in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hodgeman County blew Pawnee Heights out of the water with a 66-29 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Hodgeman County had established a 34 point advantage.
Owen Reece continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 33 points and nine rebounds. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Hodgeman County's points. Hazen Rydquist was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight assists and two steals.
Satanta has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Hodgeman County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.
Satanta might still be hurting after the 71-46 loss they got from Hodgeman County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Satanta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
