Basketball Recap: Landon Bollinger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rangely over North Park

It was a proper cat-fight when Rangely challenged North Park on Saturday. The Rangely Panthers took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Park Wildcats. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Bollinger, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Bollinger a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Marcos Quintana, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.

North Park got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Pittington out in front who went 9 for 21 en route to 21 points along with six assists and five boards. Chris Reyes was another key player, putting up 16 points and seven rebounds.

Rangely's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for North Park, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-5.

When Rangely and North Park next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Rangely will face off against Plateau Valley and their ten-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, North Park will try to stop Vail Mountain's three-game winning streak when the meet at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
