Imperial Valley recap December 3, 2013
Imperial fell to St. Augustine 56-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Royce Freeman threw for 35 yards and ran for 173 yards in the loss.
Brawley made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,389 from 3,549.
Imperial's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Carter threw for 25 yards and Jacob Benton had 43 yards receiving. On the ground Freeman contributed 173 yards. Austyn Smith helped Imperial's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 10 yards.
Freeman was a passing and rushing force as Kerry Legarra's team lost to the Saints. Freeman's favorite target this week was Benton, who caught 2 passes for 43 yards.
Benton was the best receiver in Imperial Valley this week as the Tigers lost to St. Augustine. Smith helped Imperial's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 10 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Carter and Freeman, Imperial has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Carter leads the league in passing with 1,149 yards, while Freeman has rushed for 2,824 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Palo Verde Valley's Damian Ramirez, with 1,338 yards on 61 catches.
Freeman broke off the longest rushing play in the league this week with a 67-yard run against Richard Sanchez's team.
