The Summit SkyHawks will face off against the Eisenhower Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Summit has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 138 points over their last three games.
Summit is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Jurupa Hills: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the SkyHawks blew the Spartans out of the water with a 42-6 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
Dominic Andujo was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 21 yards and one TD, and also picked up 36 receiving yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Summit proved: they limited Jurupa Hills to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Evan Ramos for the heroic effort on defense: he. Summit didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.4.
Meanwhile, Eisenhower's game on Thursday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 36-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grand Terrace.
Summit will have to keep a close watch on Elijah Necochea and Noah Hennison, a pair of players who had a big impact on Eisenhower's prior game. Necochea threw for 159 yards and four touchdowns, while Hennison picked up 90 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Necochea's passing game has become a key predictor of Eisenhower's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise.
Summit's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.0 points on average over those games. As for Eisenhower, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Summit has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 196.5 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Eisenhower, though, as they've been averaging only 90.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Summit against Eisenhower in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 37-0 win. Will the SkyHawks repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
