Basketball Game Preview: Pike County Pirates vs. Rutland Hurricanes

Having just played yesterday, the Pike County Pirates will get right back to it and host the Rutland Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Pike County and 15 for Rutland.

Pike County is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Callaway on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Pike County had to suffer through a 61-12 loss at the hands of Callaway. The game marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Pike County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kerrah Foster, who posted six points and three steals, and Sadie Lewis, who put up two points. Lewis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-38, which was the final score in Rutland's tilt against Morgan County on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 174th).

Rutland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Pike County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Pike County was able to grind out a solid win over Rutland in their previous meeting back in January, winning 50-39. Does Pike County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rutland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
