The Casteel Colts were the 57-44 winner over the Casa Grande Cougars when they last played one another on January 5th, but their luck changed this time around. Casteel was just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 52-51 to Casa Grande. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Casteel came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Casa Grande is ranked 171st).
Casa Grande got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tayven Williams out in front who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Phinneas Linehan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Casteel's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Casa Grande, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
Casteel will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. Williams Field is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Casa Grande, they will head out on the road to take on Campo Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
