The Genoa-Hugo Pirates missed an extra point against the Granada Bobcats on Saturday and it came back to haunt them. Genoa-Hugo was just a hair shy of victory and fell 39-38 to Granada. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Genoa-Hugo still got an impressive performance from Konner Rowden-Stum, who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 114 receiving yards and a touchdown. Logan Sitzman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Genoa-Hugo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Granada, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Genoa-Hugo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Granada will be playing at home against Cheyenne Wells at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cheyenne Wells knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Granada likes a good challenge.
