The DasCHE Spartans will head out to take on the Nolan Catholic Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
DasCHE barely beat Lake Country Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans blew past the Eagles 15-6 last Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Nolan Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Trinity Christian a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Vikings have posted against the Trojans since March 19, 2019.
Jordan Suda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rylie Patterson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenna Frasier, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Nolan Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Christian only posted an OBP of .389.
The win made it two in a row for DasCHE and bumps their season record up to 13-18-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Nolan Catholic, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-18.
Everything went DasCHE's way against Nolan Catholic in their previous meeting back in March, as DasCHE made off with a 12-1 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
