The Colonial Beach Drifters will head out on the road to take on the Westmoreland Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Colonial Beach had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their contest on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 65-30 victory over King & Queen Central. The victory was just what Colonial Beach needed coming off of a 91-27 loss in their prior contest.
Gary Tompkins was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delane Jaxson, who scored 15 points.
Westmoreland posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past Essex 61-40. Westmoreland has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.
Colonial Beach's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Westmoreland, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Colonial Beach came up short against Westmoreland in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 53-47. Can Colonial Beach avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
