They weren't the only ones making solid contact: San Bernardino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame got the win against Bell Gardens on Thursday by a conclusive 9-2.
Sydney Cramer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Shea McCann and Teresa Avila did most of the damage at the plate: McCann went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Avila went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ximena Silva, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Notre Dame is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for San Bernardino, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6.
San Bernardino's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Cardinals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Notre Dame, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will San Bernardino continue to outrun the ball?
