After two games on the road, Carver is heading back home. They will take on the Dougherty Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Georgia (Carver is ranked 59th, while Dougherty is ranked 46th).
Last Tuesday, Carver lost to Monroe on the road by a decisive 67-53 margin. Carver has not had much luck with Monroe recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Tony Montgomery and Justin Burns. Burns had a great game and scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Meanwhile, Montgomery was balling out in the loss, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Dougherty didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Thomasville on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Dougherty.
Kaleke Singletary-Jinks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Traevon Williams, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Carver's loss dropped their record down to 19-3. As for Dougherty, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7.
Carver couldn't quite finish off Dougherty in their previous matchup back in January and fell 64-61. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dougherty's Jaion Burns, who scored 18 points along with seven steals. Now that Carver knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
