The Coral Reef Barracudas will head out to face off against the Osceola Kowboys at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Coral Reef is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Coral Reef gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Florida Christian with a sharp 11-5 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Barracudas considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Quinley Wylie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Sierra Johnson was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Gia Baltodano also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Johnson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Coral Reef kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Osceola came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Tigers. The three-run effort marked the Kowboys' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Osceola also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Milanys Lopez gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. Lopez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tenley Dawson, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Samanthalea Edwards, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Osceola's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coral Reef, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coral Reef hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Osceola struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
