The Tift County Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Coffee Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Tift County had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 44-28 to Valdosta.
Tift County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Corey Howard, who scored 4 points along with 11 rebounds, and Malachi Evans who scored 4 points.
Meanwhile, even though Fitzgerald scored an imposing 65 points on Saturday, Coffee still came out on top. Coffee managed a 71-65 win over Fitzgerald. The win made it back-to-back wins for Coffee.
Coffee can attribute much of their success to Junitho Benson, who scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Benson has scored at least 25% of Coffee's points. Jeremiah Bazell was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Tift County's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Coffee, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Tift County was able to grind out a solid victory over Coffee when the teams last played back in January, winning 50-43. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Coffee's Larry Daniel, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Tift County to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
