Apopka is a perfect 5-0 against East Ridge since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Apopka is taking a road trip to challenge East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. Apopka's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so East Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Apopka was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Cloud, taking the game 6-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Darters.
Wyatt Jaggers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Ty Livingston was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Aiden Rieli, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, East Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 12-2 to Trinity Christian Academy.
Stephen Pineda was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Apopka's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for East Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
East Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Apopka has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for East Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Apopka keep running through batters, or will East Ridge buck the trend?
Apopka beat East Ridge 9-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Apopka since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
