The Needles Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the GV Christian Guardians at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Needles knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully GV Christian likes a good challenge.
While Needles' win against Holtville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs won by a run and slipped past the Vikings 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since March 28th.
Audrina Bullchild spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Summer Scott was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liana DeLeon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
GV Christian came out on top against Lake Mead Christian Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 16-run third inning. The Guardians put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 21-1 win. The contest marked the Guardians' most dominant victory of the season.
Hannah Heaston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Heaston was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Palumbo, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Callyn Rider was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
GV Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .548 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Needles is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for GV Christian, their record now sits at 7-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Needles hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like GV Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Needles took their victory against GV Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
