The School of the Woods Wildcats posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They had just enough and edged Cornerstone Christian Academy out 36-33. For School of the Woods, this counts as revenge for the 74-68 defeat Cornerstone Christian Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
School of the Woods' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adam Zagaar, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kieran Knight, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
School of the Woods' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-14. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. School of the Woods won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Annapolis Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Annapolis Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Banff at 5:30 p.m. Banff is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
