The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions and the Munroe Bobcats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the L.E.A.D. Academy Lions had to settle for second. They took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. L.E.A.D. Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Munroe apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
L.E.A.D. Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophia Harold, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Harold continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Lay, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, L.E.A.D. Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Munroe only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Munroe found their leader in underclassman Aj Johnson, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Mya Mccullar was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
L.E.A.D. Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Munroe, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-15.
L.E.A.D. Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Munroe will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against North Florida Educational Institute at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. North Florida Educational Institute will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Munroe surely won't give up without a fight.
