Basketball Recap: Kountze Piles Up the Points Against Buna

A well-balanced attack led Kountze over Buna in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Kountze Lions blew the Buna Cougars out of the water with a 65-32 final score. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Buna's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaleigh Humble, who posted ten points and six boards, and Jaiden Epps, who scored eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Those ten points gave Humble a new career-high.

The win was the sixth in a row for Kountze, bringing their record for this year to 18-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.7 points. As for Buna, their loss dropped their record down to 19-12.

Kountze and Buna should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Kountze (ranked 164th) will meet Anahuac (ranked 1367th) at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Buna will square off against Hardin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 604 places (583 vs. 1187).
