The Alexandria Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Marksville on Tuesday as Alexandria made off with a 65-42 win. The win was a breath of fresh air for Alexandria as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Alexandria's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylin Johnson led the charge by scoring 16 points. That's the first time this season that Johnson scored 15 or more points. Chavez Whitehead was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Alexandria's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points per game. As for Marksville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.
Alexandria won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lakeview at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. One thing working in Lakeview's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches. Marksville will be home for the holidays to greet Avoyelles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Avoyelles will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Marksville is ranked 92nd).
