Christ the King has gone 9-1 against Langtree Charter Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Crusaders will venture away from home to take on the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Christ the King will be strutting in after a victory while Langtree Charter Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Christ the King took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Lincoln Charter. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Owen Shipman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. James Phillips also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Corvian Community hit Langtree Charter Academy with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 7-5. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Easton Roschke was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aiden Gelpke, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Christ the King pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Langtree Charter Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Christ the King has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Langtree Charter Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Christ the King skirted past Langtree Charter Academy 2-1 in their previous meeting on April 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
