Cascade has gone 8-2 against Greencastle recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cadets will take on the Tiger Cubs at 5:30 p.m. Cascade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Cascade is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Sullivan just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Arrows. The contest marked the Cadets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
TJ Turner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Greencastle got the win against Cloverdale on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-2. Considering the Tiger Cubs have won three matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bryton Gregg and Trevin Long were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Gregg tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Long pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Gregg went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Long went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Sam Gooch was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Greencastle's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Nathan Sutherlin, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Greencastle hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cloverdale struck out 12 times.
Greencastle is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Cascade, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Greencastle's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cascade has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. It's a different story for Greencastle, though, as they've only averaged .345. Will they be able to contain Cascade's hitters?
Cascade skirted past Greencastle 6-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cadets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
