Christian School of York and Conestoga Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Austin Holbritter was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Holbritter wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maverick Browand, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Bryson Byrd was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Conestoga Christian never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against Alliance Christian as Conestoga Christian made off with a 20-0 win. The Cougars have beaten the Gryphons the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Gryphons has come to flipping the script.
Like Christian School of York, Conestoga Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Declan McDermott. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, McDermott gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Clayton Zimmerman was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Shrom, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Conestoga Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alliance Christian only posted an OBP of .077.
Christian School of York's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Conestoga Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Everything went Christian School of York's way against Conestoga Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Christian School of York made off with a 15-4 win.
