There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Belleville West's junior Jack Mccloskey, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Carlinville got a 49 - 12 win over Roxana last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Jarret Easterday. Easterday threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Easterday as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
Movin on Up
St. Francis Borgia has been an offensive powerhouse for five straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It blew past Helias 41 - 13. The Helias defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 42 points per game), and St. Francis Borgia took advantage of that. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by 11, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Vianney (2nd in the power rankings) and DeSmet Jesuit (4th) did not disappoint. Vianney came out on top in a nail-biter against DeSmet Jesuit, sneaking past 17 - 14. The win raised Vianney up three spots in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
Chaminade and Jefferson City went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (91) among all power ranked teams. Chaminade snuck past Jefferson City with a 49 - 42 victory. Nevertheless, Chaminade did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped one spot in the rankings.
