Eastern is 1-7 against Lanesville since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Musketeers will host the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Eastern was able to grind out a solid victory over Madison, taking the game 7-4.
Bracie Jackson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Jackson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Trainor, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Trainor a new career-high. Another was Alyssa Calloway, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lanesville). Everything went their way against Scottsburg on Friday as they made off with a 21-6 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Madelyn Magner was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Gunn, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Lanesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scottsburg only managed five hits.
Eastern has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lanesville, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eastern has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lanesville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Eastern couldn't quite finish off Lanesville in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 and fell 7-5. Can the Musketeers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
