The West Marion Trojans's four-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They came out on top against East Marion by a score of 40-29. The win was just what West Marion needed coming off of a 39-17 loss in their prior game.
Despite the loss, East Marion still got an impressive performance from Adrinae Aikens, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Aikens is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalee Dillon, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
West Marion's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for East Marion, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
West Marion will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tylertown at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Tylertown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Marion in Mississippi (Tylertown is ranked 98th, while West Marion is ranked 249th). East Marion won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Columbia at 4:00 p.m. on December 22nd.
