After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Green Run, the First Colonial Patriots were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They secured a 67-61 W over Bayside. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bayside's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jessie Ware, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Ware is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Micala Poe was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with three steals and two blocks.
First Colonial's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Bayside, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Colonial has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Virginia (Ocean Lakes is ranked 206th, while the Patriots are ranked 210th). As for Bayside, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Stallions at 7:00 p.m.
