Del Valle is a perfect 9-0 against Hanks since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Conquistadores are taking a road trip to challenge the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Del Valle's defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so Hanks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
Del Valle had taken Chapin down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Conquistadores were just a hair shy of victory and fell 23-22 to the Huskies. The Conquistadores gained 75 more yards on the day, but it was the Huskies that made the best use of them.
Del Valle might have lost, but man, Jake Fette was a machine: he rushed for 221 yards and two scores while picking up 13.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 151 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Dante Eytcheson, who gained 114 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hanks). They took down Burges 35-21 on Friday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Del Valle better keep an eye on Austin Deucher. He was instrumental in Hanks' win, rushing for 202 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 36 receiving yards and one score. Zack Kania also helped out as he racked up 129 receiving yards.
Hanks didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Burges to a completion percentage of just 25%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Brandon Sanchez, Johnny Swartz, Demarco Unger, and Junior Gardea, who each logged one passes deflected. Hanks wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 62.5%.
Having lost for the first time this season, Del Valle fell to 5-1. As for Hanks, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Del Valle has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 201.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hanks struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 205 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Del Valle against Hanks when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 71-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Conquistadores since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
