Mountain View is 0-10 against San Elizario since March of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. Mountain View will be playing at home against San Elizario at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Mountain View came up short against Fabens and fell 15-12. The Lobos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alyssa Quevedo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Victoria Coates, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They got five more hits than Fabens' also-impressive total of 14.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Elizario, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over Clint on Friday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Abigail Rios was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shivanna VBromell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Yelena Arzola was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for San Elizario, their win bumped their record up to 6-17-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .420. However, it's not like San Elizario struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
