The St. Louis Sharks will head out to challenge the Harrison Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Louis is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
St. Louis couldn't beat Ogemaw Heights on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Sharks fell 10-7 to the Falcons.
Bentley Inbody and Keityn Clark did some serious damage despite the final result: Inbody went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Clark went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Dylan Harrison also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Harrison ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Farwell 10-9. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hornets needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Gavin VanBuren and Matthew Latunski did most of the damage at the plate: VanBuren went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Latunski got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most RBI VanBuren has posted over his last ten matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Latunski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
St. Louis' defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Harrison, their victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-15.
St. Louis' speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Sharks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Harrison, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. Louis continue to outrun the ball?
St. Louis beat Harrison 11-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sharks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
