The Phoenix Country Day Eagles stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They put the hurt on Camp Verde with a sharp 72-49 victory. The victory was familiar territory for Phoenix Country Day who now have seven in a row.
Olivia Owens was her usual excellent self, shooting 8-for-16 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 33 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Aila Kaibara was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Camp Verde's loss came despite strong showings from Rachel Roderick and Page Oothoudt. Roderick scored 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Oothoudt scored 19 points. That was a full 42.9% of Camp Verde's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Phoenix Country Day's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Camp Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix Country Day and Veritas Prep will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Veritas Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Phoenix Country Day is ranked 17th). As for Camp Verde, they will head out on the road to challenge Scottsdale Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
