Meanwhile, Bear Grass Charter came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Cape Hatteras 58-39.
Bear Grass Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caroline Harrell, who scored 12 points along with eight steals. Another player making a difference was Carly Bembridge, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Mattamuskeet's loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Bear Grass Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Mattamuskeet have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bear Grass Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.7 rebounds per game.
